Ambiance: This place seems to be having an identity crisis. Is it fine dining? Is it a pizza joint? Is it a bar? Yes! And NO! The setting is nice. It's definitely got an Italian vibe, but some of the decor is formal and some is downright pizzeria-y. The fairly loud music on our visit consisted of The Beatles, Opera, AC/DC, Traditional Italian music and The Shins, among others. It was just odd... like someone stole MY iPod and put it on shuffle. Our visit was in the icy cold Winter times and it was FREEZING in there. When my semi-frozen wife told the waiter it was cold, he said, "Oh. I've been running around, so I haven't noticed." He then proceeded to do nothing about it. Service: Our waiter was nice enough, but was a complete mumbler. It was very difficult to understand a word he said. Our food took FOREVER to come out of the kitchen and our waiter was scarce. After about 30 minutes we had to ask a different server to check on our food, which came out via a 3rd server 5 minutes later. All told, we spent about 100 minutes here for a quick dinner. Food: When the food finally arrived it was mediocre. My pasta, with sausage, peppers, onions and marinara was piping hot and had good flavor. There was a lot of sausage, which is always a plus. The only drawbacks were the pasta was a little overcooked and it wasn't house-made. 3.5 stars for my food. Lisa got Penne pasta and added chicken. Her dish was luke warm and the chicken was nearly cold. If the dish had sat out for more than 2 minutes, the coldness would be expected, due to the aforementioned temperature in this place. The flavor was okay, but had a weird aftertaste. 2 stars for her food. The bread was good and they have balsamic vinegar on every table so that's nice. The food and setting at Michelangeo were good enough to give them another try and the prices were very reasonable. Next time, we'll go back in the summertime.

I had a surprisingly pleasant experience at the Highland location. (My first Michelangelo experience was at the downtown location and it didn't really "wow" me...) The decor was upscale and lovely, with a great sunset view/atmosphere. The servers were upbeat and attentive. And the food was good!! (I should add that it was a weekday evening around 6:30p.m., and the place was not crazy-busy though they did have a few other tables aside from us. Our experience may have been different at a peak hour on a weekend night.) We got a caesar salad, a pizza, spaghetti pomodoro (which they did for me because I'm not a big Penne fan), and complimentary bread cubes. The bread cubes and olive oil were moist and chewy -- a great start to a meal. The Caesar salad tasted crisp and fresh, we loved the dressing. I did not try the pizza but my pasta was great. I really liked the richness of the sauce. It did not feel like a sodium overload, and it was creamy like tomato soup. I look forward to revisiting this location.

My wife, daughter and I just arrived home after an exceptional meal at Michelangelo's. We were frequent diners at the old location. When they moved to the nicer spot we somehow felt the restaurant had lost something so it had been years since we had dined there. Any hoo we had to go to slc and I suggested we try it again, and boy I'm glad we did. Yes, we were there early and the place was not crowded, but we walked in and the mater'd sat us quickly. Our waitress "Holly" was right over taking our drink and appetizer orders. My wife had the fagoli and beans, tasted as good as it did 15 years ago, I had the grilled asparagus with truffle oil and a fried egg, don't pass this up when you go. We all had pasta an a we split a side of tri tip, both were piping hot, perfectly cooked and excellent. The bread is fresh, the wine was excellent . We got an extra order of pasts to go as it was so good. Finally the staff, especially, our server Holly, could simply not have been better, we will likely be back in the next week. It was that good.

Wasn't too impressed :( we ordered the truffle risotto and 15 minutes later the waiter came back to say they were out of truffles. We asked if there would be a discount, since the truffles are the reason it was a $28 course and our waiter said no. No manager came to talk to us at all, isn't that what management is for? Anyway, food was good but small portions for how expensive it was. Don't think we will be going back.

More like a 2.5. I was awed in July by my lunch and manager/server on premise but tonights dinner failed. They had bread so that wasnt the issue. Our server was lackluster and could cared less to b there. Our food came out barely warm. Our server saw they were less then half eaten and instead of asking if everything was ok she asked if we wanted boxes. I told her if she could heat my food ad she took it. Honestly our meals would have cost less then $2 to make at home so $12 to $14 for each plate of cold pasta with not fresh cheese, pass. Sorry but I tried giving you guys a chance.

Our meal at Michelangelo started on an encouraging note. Arriving at the restaurant at noon on a Saturday, my wife and I were the only customers. Our server promptly brought out a basket of delicious sourdough bread, which we enjoyed dipping in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. After ten minutes (too long), our order was taken. I ordered the pear ravioli with truffle sauce and my wife ordered the margharita pizza. In addition, we ordered two Italian sodas. The italian sodas were spectacular! The syrups they used were delicious and the mixture of cream, soda, and flavor was perfect. After about a 20-minute wait, the entrees arrived. The pear ravioli was slightly overcooked, and combined with an excess of the truffle sauce, it seemed almost mushy. The pizza was quite good, made with fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. If the meal had ended at this point I would have given a 3 or 4-star rating. However, things went downhill very quickly at this point. We ordered the chocolate torte dessert to share. The small slice of this dessert arrived with a cherry sauce and whipped cream. My wife took the first bite and spit it out. I tried it and could not eat a second bite. It was stale, dry, and disgusting. Even thinking about it now turns my stomach. It is honestly the very worst dessert I have ever had in a restaurant. Again, I would have given this restaurant a much higher rating, but I don't think a restaurant that serves a dessert that was this disgusting deserves anything above a 2-star rating. Also, surprisingly, the waiter said NOTHING about only a small portion of the dessert being eaten when he came to pick up the plate. So would I return? Yes, I'd give this restaurant a second chance. It's clean and, as stated above, some of the components of the meal were quite good. I hope they either improve the chocolate dessert (I mean, really, how can you mess up chocolate?) or remove it from the menu.

The service was poor. They salad plates stayed on the table until the main course came out. The food is ok, nothing to write home about. It has gone downhill since they moved downtown.

Very nice location, atmosphere and ambiance. Apart from a little miscommunication about who was supposed to serve us, the overall experience was great. They made a little bit longer of a wait up to us by giving us a few of their delicious soups to sample. I got the sausage rigatoni, which was an epicurean delight! My smoking hot date got the lasagna, which was actually really good, but I was too into my rigatoni to appreciate it fully. Our server was awesome. Very nice, made great recommendations, and was attentive. Hooked him up with a pretty generous tip. I'll definitely be back!

The gnocchi was truly the best I've ever had... and I try the gnocchi everywhere. The service we received was exceptional. The perfect amount of helpful and attentive. Where was no wait time and the prices were exceptional.

The first time I came here I had a really pleasant experience and I also had a $15 restaurant.com coupon so that made it even better. I had been longing to go back and finally did and had a very disappointing experience. I got the pear ravioli and it was good and all, but super super small (and for $16, a ripoff in my opinion). Also, they no longer give free bread, they give you a small basket and then charge $2 thereafter. Our waiter was nice, but super slow...Basically, if you want good Italian food and don't mind spending an obscene amount of money then go here.

We took my parents to dinner tonight. We have really enjoyed this restaurant in the past and wanted to show them why we like it. I made a reservation. Then it went downhill from there. The server was awful. Not really friendly and didn't seem interested in checking on us. We had just started our appetizer and she brought my parents their salads. Their pizza followed while my husband and I waited for our entree's. Mine was cold and mushy...The server seemed to care less about us or the food.... We took 2 slices of Tiramisu to go.

This is a sit down Italian restaurant. Don't let some of the signs outside fool you, it is a nice restaurant. They have large blinds facing the street to protect from the sun so you can't really see inside unless it is dark outside. Michelangelo has a nice menu with lots of soups, salads, and pasta. They also offer quite a few beef and chicken dishes. The food was okay, although I suspect a microwave was used on one of our chicken entrees as it was so hot only a microwave could do that. You can also order a wood fired pizza cooked in a large wood fire oven. They also have a full bar. The service is not so great here and could be improved. I noticed they were often standing around not helping customers. The boss needs to let them know they are there to work. They really need to take down all the "deal" signs as it just cheapens the feel and look of the restaurant. There is not a lot of parking and I recommend you not park in front as it is hard to get in, back out and get on the street.

Went to three restaurants on our last trip to Salt Lake. This was our favorite. Went here for lunch. The complementary bread was fantastic and authentic--I would've been happy with a meal of that and the balsamic vinegar and oil. We both ordered sandwiches. Good quality bread and piled high with fantastic ingredients. $7 or $8 per sandwich, so on the pricey side, but they're very filling and just high quality food. Service was a bit quirky, but fine. Not slow, not fast. Guess we came at a good time.

i have gotten take out a few times and haven really been disappointed. Some dishes wont travel too well, but i liked the gnocchi with gorganzola sauce (all homemade) and the chicken parm. family run, and great service from Ashley and another kid there...former Air Force kid. We WILL go again.

After having driven this by this place multiple times just thinking it was some run down furniture store, I was surprised when a trusted source highly recommended it for some good Italian eats. I decided to make a reservation for me and my boyfriend on a Friday night at 7 o'clock, highly recommended by the way, as the place was packed when we got there. Having seen all the other reviewers, I can definitely agree that Michelangelo's is a little understaffed, but I still found my service to be more than satisfactory. While there was a bit of a wait for our table, we were constantly given notice that they were just waiting for the previous diners at our table to finish up. Also, given that it was a packed night, waiting for our entrees took a bit of time, but our server also was very good about communicating with us about the wait time, plus he brought out 3 baskets worth of their delicious bread. Anywho, let's actually talk about the food. I was very, very pleased. We first started out with the carpaccio de carne appetizer, which was a sliced filet mignon topped with arugula, parmesan, and a lemony vinaigrette. Delicious, all the flavors melded together very well, while still holding their own. For our entrees, we ordered the gnocchi, which came highly recommended. I had the gnocchi gorgonzola and my boyfriend had the gnocchi pesto, both were very decadent and the gnocchi was cooked to perfection. Between our two glasses of wine, the appetizer, three baskets worth of bread, we could only finish about half of our entrees. Overall, packed night aside, my dining experience at Michelangelo was wonderful, and I can definitely see myself becoming a regular at this neighborly Italian spot. Oh, and all the food we got (including the wine) only came to ~$50, not bad for good quality Italian.

Service - 0 Food - 4 Wine List - .5 The service is going to be the death of this place. Please hire more waitstaff. I went there on a Tuesday night and the dining room was empty when we arrived, yet it took 20 minutes to get our wine order. And the wine list is really bad. The prices have a 150% increase in them. They sell Giambiani Chianti for $32 a bottle when you can buy it in the Liquor Store for $8.99. I was so shocked when I saw that. That's just a horrible rip off. The food is good and authentic; however the service is so bad that you end up looking around the restaurant at all the other tables looking for their server and waiting for service. You have to flag someone down (that tries to avoid eye contact) to get help. Thank goodness we didn't want more than 1 glass of water. Not a good overall experience. Advice to owners - Get some more servers and train them properly or you guys won't last long. And seriously take a look at that wine menu - don't over charge that much- its horrendous.
This was a nice little italian restaurant on State Street. Good quick service , yummy good. I had the chicken rosemary and it came with these amazingly good potatoes and a side of veggies. Dessert was yummy and the bread- GREAT. It would have been nice to have been warm.

We were in town for a softball tournament. We used YELP to locate an Italian restaurant in the area for dinner. We were so happy with Michelangelo's Restaurant. We ordered lasagna, pizza and gnocci. Everything was amazing! Reasonably priced and delicious food. You can't go wrong with eating here! Plus the bread is outstanding!

I LOVE this place! My husband and I come here often and my family also had a big graduation dinner here. We haven't ever had something we didnt like- but our very favorite dish is the gorgonzolla gnocchi. YUM! Plus, the bread that comes with the meal is SO delicious. You don't have to pay a fortune either-great pricing.

I've been here twice. I'm not a big Italian food fan, so I'm not an Italian food expert. I ordered the Spaghetti Vongole (spaghetti w/ fresh clams in a white-wine sauce) & my boyfriend ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese. In my opinion, both tasted good & we were pleasantly surprised. The service isn't so great though. Our waiter was nice enough, & asked twice if our food tasted good & was the right temperature. But we had to flag down a couple of people to refill waters, etc. Maybe he was too busy? Another guy kept walking around checking for things to clear off the tables & fill water, but he never filled our empty water glasses until we had to ask. But.. it wasn't the worst thing that could ever happen & I'd probably go here again.

Just went here the other night for the first time. My husband and I loved the food and ambiance. The service was great too. If you like gnocchi, then you have come to the right place. We ordered 2 different gnocchi's so that we could try more than one. Our favorite is the Gorgonzola gnocchi. We also ordered the fettuccine with the spicy tomato sauce and it was delicious! The complimentary bread is pretty much to die for and they have high quality oil and vinegar as well. The prices were not bad for what you get and I have already told all of the people I know about this place. Wish I would have known about it sooner!

Four enthusiastic stars for the cuisine (last time I had the Gorgonzola gnocchi, which was unbelievably perfect), but ever since ownership changed and they moved from their cozy little location on 21st, the quality of service has absolutely plummeted. Our party had to wait almost 20 minutes for a table in a mostly empty restaurant, waitress was slow and had a nasty attitude.

I live right around the corner, so you'd think I'd be in this place all the time, but I've only been there thrice, and let me tell you why. Round one: They had just opened, and we had the WORST service! I did not order a drink and did not get my water refilled throughout my meal, after requesting it from the server a few times. At the end of the meal we waited over half an hour for our check. The food was totally whatever and unmemorable. Round two: It took me until last winter to go back, since the first time was so bac. We got there around 8 on a weeknight, I think it was Wednesday. There was only one other couple there when we arrived, and they left half way through our meal. It was pretty clear that the servers, etc were hoping we could hurry and leave so they could as well. Round three: This past Friday. Two words: Food poisoning. And I still have mild stomach cramps (it's Monday) Basically I would rather pull out all my fingernails than go back.

I must have driven past Michelangelo Ristorante hundreds of times during law school, and I still do regularly. I don't know what took me so long to try it out. Not the only restaurant on the stretch of Highland Drive just south of the intersection of Highland Dr. and 1300 E , Michelangelo Ristorante is a step (0r two) above the Del Taco across the street from it and the Crown Burger further south. It's about ten minutes from downtown and just over the bridge from Sugarhouse. The restaurant exudes a hip upbeat ambiance, complemented by high ceilings and nearly wall length windows, dark wood tables, black napkins, and capacious glasses. In addition to couple-sized booths in the front, the restaurant has room for larger groups in a second room (we had six, but they had seats for more at our table), as well as a back room with a door for lunch meetings of larger groups. I ordered a cheese ravioli with a marinara sauce laced with chopped tomatoes and roasted garlic cloves. It was served after a green leafy salad drizzled with a balsamic vinegar dressing and sprinkled with ground pepper. I've never had a salad like it, and though it was a bit different, I enjoyed it. The ravioli was light and flavorful, and the sauce tasted hearty and fresh. The meal was accompanied with bread that I could not eat enough of, as well as beaker of oil and vinegar for dipping. Others in my group had paninis, which they recommended, as well as a gorgonzola gnocchi, which was delicious (I sampled a bite). In fact, when I return, it's likely I'll order the gnocchi instead of the ravioli. My one gripe was the service. While we were quickly seated, our orders promptly and accurately taken, and our glasses filled, the waiter was slow to fill our glasses, and in fact, I don't think returned to fill the water glasses. Additionally, he did not keep track of who ordered what, and several of the members of our party were given the wrong paninis when the food was served. Fortunately, the food was delicious. That alone would make the restaurant worth returning to a second time. The food's appeal is bolstered by its price-lunch was just over $10, with a drink (though that drink was never actually refilled).

Terrible food. Terrible Service. Busboy dumped tepid water and bread on the table without any greeting. Chicken marsala was boozy, rubbery and swimming in grease. Spinach ravioli was also swimming in grease. The butter sauce was split and there was more sage on the dish than spinach. Ricotta cheese non-existant. Pasta was commercial wonton wrappers. You couldn't pay us to eat here again.

My wife suggested Michaelangelo and I was excited to check it out. It was a disaster from start to finish. It took way too long to get drinks to the table (10-15min) We ordered the caprese salad as an app. It took nearly 30 minutes for it to be served. Our entrees (spaghetti Michaelangelo & a pizza) took an hour to be served. I don't mind waiting an hour for a meal if it's out of sight, but our entrees were sub par. The pizza had sat for a while before being served. It was cold and the crust was soggy. I expect much more from a brick oven pizza. The spaghetti was pretty good, but the shrimp which we added was obviously from a bag of frozen shrimp. We wanted this restaurant to be an instant hit. However, it fell well short of our expectations. Since both the service and food were both lacking, there isn't enough of a reason for us to return. Also, there is not a full bar. Just beer and wine

Like many other reviews on here, my wife and I also had problems with the service, although they were very busy. But as always the food is about the best Italian I've had in the Salt Lake area for the price. There is a couple better places, but they are much more expensive. I've never had a bad dish at this place.

We dined here on NYE which we thought would be a good choice: in the past the food has been good and the service has been without issue. This time however that was not our experience. Our server seemed overwhelmed and annoyed when we asked him reheat the cold pasta he brought out or when we ordered coffee toward the end of our meal. The biggest issue was his unwillingness to adapt a meat pasta to meatless. I can cut them some slack for it being New Years but for the price I expect some accommodation for vegetarians. Generally I would consider this place "dressy" but when the owner is walking around in baggy khakis and a T-shirt (on New Years Eve) I'm not sure what the dress code would be. There are far better Italian restaurants in Salt Lake to enjoy.

Not a great experience - the wait staff was ok - but not attentive. The chicken I ordered was over done rubber swimming in an oily sauce and did not look appetizing at all. Not something would draw me to return!

Ok, before I put this place on blast let me say this.... FOOD: 4.5 stars AMBIANCE: 4 stars SERVICE: If I could I would give it a big FAT ZERO!!! I used to frequent Michelangelo's at their old location in sugarhouse and LOVED it. The owners were Italian and had a very Italian, laid-back style to their service. I have lived in Italy and have no problem with the lax attitude of which they wait on customers. That being said, I have been racking my brain to try and remember when the last time was that I had such horrendous service at a place - we almost walked out before our entrees got to the table. So, here is why I am so mad I wasted the last 3 hours of my life. We were seated and so excited to see the restaurant has new owners (people that I know) and the new location is really nice. We were seated and ignored for about 10 minutes - fine....whatever. When Francesco (our server) finally arrived I didn't foresee any problems with the night. We ordered our apps and dinner about 5 minutes later. Well, after that point it all went downhill like a runaway mack truck. We didn't get our apps for about 45 mintues, we asked for bread but it was "in the oven"....hmm, sounds familiar (see Hannah's review below). I even went and politely inquired about them to the manager on duty. She said the kitchen was backed up because of the HUGE influx of walk-ins. Since when is 8 tables in a 20 table restaurant a problem?? And, come on!.....it doesn't take 45 mintues to make a Caprese. Just give me the knife and I will cut my own tomatoes and mozz!! The other aggrevating thing is that other people that came in after us were being served before us (us = 3 people)...the difference was that they had a competent waiter named Clint. We actually had to ask for bread 4 times before we got it - we are usually not bread eaters, but when you are starving you will eat anything! After our apps were cleared it took another 45 to get our entrees. By this time I am so aggitated I can't even see straight. I couldn't believe the the manager didn't even bother to check-in with us after I complained. Our entrees were delivered and the server disappeared again....so I got up and grabbed the parm and shaved it over my companions pasta for them. Way to go customer service! I have worked in many restaurants and I know the kicthen can run behind. The problem lies in when you ignore tables or ignore that problems exist. Our night could have been saved if they would have offered a complimentary dessert or a glass of wine or even just a simple explanation or SOMETHING!...but to completely ignore the situation is unacceptable. Michelangelo's, I am SO sorry that your food is awesome and your service sucks. I doubt I will ever be back.

Went here for wine and dinner with a friend. Everytime I have been here I have had great customer service and good food. This wouldn't be the best italian in Utah but definitely a go to place close to home. The caprese salad is very good and their pizza's are very consistent. This time I had the spinach ravioli and was very impressed. Definitely make a reservation if you are going Thur-Sun.

Went here again for the risotto and ended up with the lamb. We will not be going back. The food is pretty good but the service is horrible. Good food will forgive many sins, however the food here is not nearly good enough to forgive the slow service, the forgetful waiters or the fact that our main course was coming out before our salads were there. I would pass this place up for ANY other Italian joint around. Hell I would rather go to Fazoli's than go back here and suffer through this horrible service.

Michelangelo is a great place to eat, and I loved the food there. But the only thing I was disappointed about was, I wanted more of what I ordered. I ordered the Peach Ravioli, which was awesome, but felt like that there wasn't enough of it on my plate.I went at dinner time. I left there still hungry.

I've been only once and loved it. Service was excellent, our waiter was very friendly and the hostess apologized several times because we walked in without a reservation and had to wait all of ten minutes. I recommend the gnocchi- it was my first time having gnocchi and I plan on going back for more. After the waiter suggested the gnocchi we asked about dessert and he brought delicious hazelnut chocolate gelato. Also made it worth a trip back.

Food is ok....the service is horrible. I have been multiple times with the same issues every time. You have to track your waiter down to get a refill on your drinks, our salad came out after our entree which took almost an hour and it took almost 20 minutes to get our check after we asked for it. I will not be going back to Michelangelo's.

My husband and I went to the Main Street SLC location on a Wednesday evening. We were seated immediately and served drinks quickly. Our waitress said she had just started this week. I have no complaints with the service. We had more than one server come to check if we needed anything else. We had fresh bread delivered to our table and replenished once more during the meal. We ordered the spagetti with meat sauce and the spagetti with arugula, garlic and cheese. We loved the flavor and loved the whole dining experience. I will definitely go back. The Meal prices were very appealing as well.

We are regulars for good reason. Michelangelo's has been our favorite neighborhood restaurant for over a decade. We were skeptical when they moved locations and changed the vibe. Luckily, we love the feel of this place! Everyone is friendly and mostly knowledgeable. And, if they don't know the answer to your question they quickly ask the chef so you can get an accurate answer. My husband and I moved here from NYC. So, finding good Italian food is our thing! Everything we have ever had here has been phenomenal! Here's our list of favorites: Gnocchi Pomodora (with a side of Gorgonzola), Chicken Picata, Michelangelo Club, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Carpaccio, all of their soups (esp the Tomato Basil), Veggie Panini, and the LASAGNA! I love that their Gnocchi are small and pillow like (not dense) and plentiful- I can only eat half on a good day. My husband loved that the Chicken is pounded thin to perfection just like is Napoleon Grandma used to do. My daughter and I are addicted to their Tomato Basil soup and actually ask the manager to call us eat time the chef makes it. In addition, their wine list and bar selection is quite good! I've read that service is an issue for some. I understand if you wait too log for water. But, what patrons need to realize is that this is not "fast food". They are whipping up sauces and dishes as they are ordered. This is a place to sit back with friends and family and enjoy your time together while your food is being expertly prepared. NOT the place to cram in a meal before a movie! Our server this weekend was Holly. She was friendly, attentive and a very informative for the newbies in our group. Last week we had one of their new servers, Cass. He was totally on the ball and made sure we were well taken care of. We have even watched Holly serve a table of very "high maintenance" rude couple. She was nothing but polite and made sure to have water filled and food to the table in a faster manner than normal. I was impressed because I was about to lose it on this couple. But she was professional and courteous. I obviously love this place and would recommend it to anyone!

I have tried this restaurant three times because everyone tells me it's so yummy and I have to give it a chance. Every time I'm disappointed. The food isn't flavorful and the chicken is pounded thin and has a weird texture? Each meal reminds me of something heated in a microwave and then bottled sauce is poured on it. My 13 and 10 year old enjoy the food. They've had the pizzas and the gnocchi. Maybe it's food more for children as I took my parents and they also didn't enjoy their meals? I'll give it 2 stars because my kids love it! Edit: Forgot to mention that they really need to wash the walls that have food splattered on them and sweep the floors.

May I suggest the salmon with lemon caper sauce its a delicious crusted salmon very moist and absolutely Devine. What was not a favorite was the Gnocchi it was not worth ordering. The staff was great Bryan our waiter attended to all our needs.

Food rating - easy 4 possibly 5 star! Service rating - 2 star :( I recently went here on my lunch break (pressed for time), we had a party of 6 and the restaurant was dead... literally 4 to 5 other tables with people. They didnt seem short handed on staff, so the lack of service from our waitress was extremely surprising. The hostess had sat us down around the corner and in a far table of the restaurant (we thought they forgot about us)... It took forever to get water and for our waitress to even come over and welcome us. By the time she greeted us, we had already viewed the menu and knew what we wanted. *Everyone in my group was a first timer there... So no one knew the menu. After ordering our food, we had enough time to eat 3 full bowls of bread and drink 2 glasses/drinks... The food took forever. I suppose for good measure, because the food was delicious! I had a bbq chicken pizza and side salad. Both were fresh and amazing! Very good! I would think for a new restaurant, few patrons, and busy lunch hour, that our waitress would have been more friendly, inviting, and eager to serve us... as there weren't many other customers there and lunch took about an hour & half. Dont cancel this place out due to our poor service experience, because again, the food was great. I just hope next time our waitress isnt sooooo chill and laid back... Hustle girl! Your tip depends on it!

I absolutely love this place! It's always a contender when I'm trying to figure out where to go for lunch or date night. You get bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar before your meal and it's perfection - so soft, airy and chewy. For lunch, I like to get the caesar salad topped with grilled salmon. For dinner, I like to get the grilled salmon - it comes with green beans and seasoned potatoes. Their Gnocchi Gorgonzola is also amazing. Every time I've been here the servers are really nice and helpful. It's one of my favorite restaurants!

This is our neighborhood restaurant and we couldn't be happier! Don't come here expecting anything fancy, but appreciate the down-home italian comfort food. The staff is so friendly and always so great to us. This is our go-to pizza restaurant every Friday. The 4 seasons pizza (two slices each of mushroom, sausage, olive and margherita) as well as the Tomato Balsamic Garlic are our go-tos. If you are craving comforting pasta, the rigatoni with spicy sausage is solid. And if you come here for anything, make sure you load up on their heavenly bread!

We recently moved to the neighborhood a year or so ago and decided to give this place a shot. Initially I wasn't thrilled by the food, but eventually I learned to navigate the menu. Their pesto pasta had grown on me, as well as the gorgonzola cream sauce. Unfortunately I called tonight asking to *purchase* bread to go and they refused our order. Booooooo... Here's a tip from an ex-restaurateur: Don't treat your routine, super low maintenance to go customers this way -- As far as margins go, we are your bread and butter. (Well... there wasn't any bread in this case...). I called back to speak to the manager "John" and he had magically "stepped out". Double booooo for being spineless and not doing your job as a manager.

This was a very disappointing experience. We had dinner with friends on a Friday night and there was little to like. Our waiter was unfriendly, curt, almost surly. He never checked on us until it was time to get the payment. Worst waiter I've ever had, period. The food was average at best. I ordered salmon and it was overdone, hard-crusted and dry. I couldn't tell the waiter because he disappeared. Overpriced, poorly cooked food and dreadful service.

The best Italian you will find on this side of the country. Order the Risotto, Gnocchi, and Ravioli. The Saffron Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto is worth the trip alone. Worth a try.

Generous, delicious bread! Served with oil and vinegar to mix as desired. Large Caesar salad was good. The lasagna was cheesy and bubbling hot. My hubby loved his rigatoni with spicy sausage. Our server was attentive and helpful. You can sit at tables in the dining room, in booths, or at the bar. This is a nice restaurant with many dining options, so we will be back.

Wow.. This place was not great. Pretty much everything we ordered had little to no flavor. The only thing I liked was the asparagus appetizer. I will not be back. These people need to fix their dishes and find some flavor!

There is a lot of Italian food in this town so the competition is steep. Getting 4 or 5 stars out of me would be a tough task. The service was little to slow but I had good company so I was ok with it. I think all restaurants make a point to at least greet the table within 3 mins of sitting down. Maybe not the drink order but to stop by and say hello. The bread that is served was really good and oil and vinegar is on the table. I order a chicken dish and it was meh.

My sister and I visited Michelangelo's for dinner - we made reservations prior as we heard that this place gets extremely packed! I had the gnocchi, which came in a nice creamy sauce with lots of shaved Parm cheese; my sister had the spinach & ricotta ravioli, but I thought the sauce was too watered down and the filling was very underseasoned; the bread was still in the oven that they usually give prior to the meals, so we ended up receiving them once we were finished with our food :( Service was a little frantic as our server seemed to be MIA. I'm glad I was able to try this place out! +gnocchi +scattered service

This place is pretty underwhelming. We've given it three tries and have decided to give up. Pretty disappointing because we live right down the street and were hoping to have a yummy Italian staple that we could visit regularly. The food isn't anything special, and the service is more often than not aloof and somewhat rude. Walk in and it can take up to a few minutes for anyone to acknowledge you (It's always near empty when we go). My husband ordered the pesto gnocchi once and the gnocchi were teeny tiny! I've had the regular lasagna and while it tasted OK, it was SOOO oily. Our last experience was ordering a pizza for takeout. They didn't warn me when I ordered that their pizzas are just barely bigger than a personal size. We paid something like $18 for one pizza, and it alone was barely enough to satisfy my husband. I find it to be a bit overpriced too. I will say their spinach dip is some of the best I've ever had, but they give you the smallest portion of the grilled bread to go with it. Over it!

Spaghetti carbonara Al forno was so tasty and delicious. Penne gorgonzola is good for blue cheese lovers. Gnocchi pesto was kind of bland. Spinach dip was amazingly delicious. Appetizer of meatballs were okay. My favorite was my main dish, the carbonara. I'd surely cine back again. Service by kallin was excellent. Thank you.

Went here because I had a coupon from restaurant.com It was good, but not great. I'm not in any hurry to go back, but wouldn't put up a fight if someone suggested going here. Split a pizza and pear and Gorgonzola ravioli with the sis.

Today marks my official 1 year anniversary on Yelp and I had intended on finding somewhere to "celebrate" it, preferably a restaurant that was about a year old. However, I could not find that information anywhere online and had to abandon that idea. As it was early, we decided on this place, which we'd meant to get to for awhile and hadn't quite made it. I'd heard glowing things from a friend of mine about it and it was one of the few places in the somewhat immediate area that was on our short list of being interested that we hadn't hit yet. As an aside, some of these reviews confuse me about service. Nearly every server who was wandering about attended us, whether they were our main server or not, the entire time we were there. I can't imagine this was an anomaly as they seemed to work in concert well, almost like a well-oiled machine. The place is also very clean. It has a curious set-up and arrangement, as well as a very cool private room. There also seems to be at least a decent array of wine. One thing of note is that it has a ton of acoustic bounce, which means it very quickly and easily gets fairly loud inside. All of that aside, this place has a very extensive menu with a number of interesting menus, including a hidden one. That one is them charging for extra baskets for the bread. First one is on the house; second one you will get dinged a couple bucks. It's a very good bread, a sort of sourdough, though it being warm would have indeed been nice and the balsamic on the table I found to be oddly acidic for that type of vinegar. I don't like oil in that context, so I didn't try any of that. I was going to go with one of the gnocchi dishes or possibly a pizza, perhaps a veal dish, maybe even a ravioli (server suggested most of these, independent of me reading the menu but also included the filet mignon in his selections, which struck me as absurd to order in an Italian place), until I read the last page, whereupon I ordered something I almost never see, which is a Diablo pasta dish. This one was based on spaghetti, which I no longer order in restaurants to save myself the disappointment, but I went for it anyway. My wife had some sort of artichoke thing and my son had a pizza. I also ordered an iced tea, which was possibly the very worst version of that I've ever had. I wound up replacing it with a beer and a Pelligrino soda. The dish served to me was very plain and the clams they used were whole ones. Trying to prepare those can really be dangerous ground and I ran into both a bit of grit and some broken shell pieces, which are the attendant pitfalls there. This happened often enough that I bailed out of trying to finish it, though I was fairly close to the end by then. The sauce was far from spicy and was quite bland overall. I wound up peppering it myself with the flakes for the pizza. Further, there were very few shrimp in the dish and oddly, several whole garlic cloves, some of them tending towards the raw side. I have no great issue with garlic in that manner, though I found it a bit odd the times I hit those pieces. All in all, this dish does disservice to the Diablo name and as such, I can't recommend it. Speaking of pizza, my son's pizza was fantastic. I don't tend to like cheese pizza, but the cheese blend on his was excellent. My wife's comments on her dish echoed my sentiments nearly exactly: bland. She was thinking, since the ravioli and gnocchi appeared to be handmade and fresh, that the pasta would be also. Neither of ours actually was, but rather very clearly was from dried. She felt hers was cooked well. In that respect, mine was acceptable as well, though in hindsight, I would have greatly preferred angel hair, which is what I find most often with Diablo dishes. We also had the panna cotta dessert. While not a bad effort, I've definitely had better. Service, as noted, was altogether pretty good and the speed with which we got our dishes seemed to be in a very reasonable range. While we're not opposed to going there again (and probably will), I definitely think we're going to try to find some stuff they make, as opposed to just prepare...or possibly a pizza. They do a very respectable job on those.

Randomly stopped for lunch and was very pleasantly delighted to an awesome lunch at this great restaurant!! I had pizza that was just as good as what we had in Italy & my husband had the meatball panini. It was perfect! Holly was our waitress and she was fun, friendly and quick to get anything we needed. We will surely be back to this new favorite place!!

My friends had a restaurant.com coupon, so we decided to try it out. I was the first to arrive, and after being seated, I was entirely ignored until my friends showed up about ten minutes later. (I would have liked a cocktail while I was waiting.) Our poor waitress seemed to be the only one serving that night. It was a slow night (a Tuesday), but 6+ tables is still too many for one person. The rest of the staff seemed awfully lethargic and unmotivated. We had to wonder whether they were pumping enough oxygen into the place. The food was all right, but I usually don't feel like pasta is worth the price, and this was no exception. I got the squash ravioli, and while it was definitely good, I didn't think it was $16 good. The cocktails and wine were tasty and generous, though. Overall, we ended up still spending about $20 per person, even after the coupon, so it still wasn't a great deal. I probably won't go back.

I just have to share this experience because it was really terrible. We go out to eat a lot and have been to this restaurant dozens of times, by myself, with my husband and with friends, the food is mostly good and it is convenient and close to our work. Before it was a classy place with a good authentic feel, I even brought several friends there. I don't know what happened but the service has REALLY began to decline several months ago. The last 10 times we came in we had TERRIBLE service, I mean we waited for 20-30min for anyone to even bring us water and afterwards good luck getting anything else, and this is even if the restaurant was empty. So the last 3 times we decided to not tip since it was becoming just ridiculous, but since it is close to our work we kept hoping they will get better and came in there again - guess what happened this time. The manager came up to us and told us that they will auto tip us since we didn't tip last time!!! I mean really we should have never came back to that place after getting such a bad service several times already but I can't believe that instead of saying - we are very sorry u were so unhappy last time, they actually came up to us and told us they will auto tip us or we would have to leave since they are working for next to nothing. So apparently it is my job to provide them tips whether I can't get them to even acknowledge me for 30 min of not. The irritating part is that We have probably spend around $5k in this restaurant previously, so the next thing I am doing after writing this is contacting the owner. if u are planning to go to this restaurant - don't, u will get ok food but REALLY terrible service. For $100 bill u really should expect better than that.

Great Hidden Lunch Spot Staff is friendly and helpful, atmosphere is classy and casual. The house bread is great and fresh, the Cream of Asparagus was well done and the Turkey and Arugula panini was choice! Give it a try, well worth the search.

We had the worst waitress ever. She was so rude and inattentive. She just leaned her head over to see if we were ready to order. She never introduced herself or told us the specials. On top of the rude waitress the food was flavorless. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Absolutely pathetic. I have tried to like this place, to no avail - about a half dozen visits since their move to this location. Uninspired, out of a can quality, Americanized Italian. Tonight, I had the rigatoni with sausage. Quite literally, there was not even one ounce of sausage in the dish. The sauce tasted like it came out of a can. All in all, it seemed like a dinner I could make at home for $2, and enjoy more. If you don't have the skills to make a delectable dish, at least provide reasonable quality and quantity. And marginal service with marginal professionalism. Last resort dining for me, now.

Recently voted my family's new favorite place to eat!! The atmosphere is perfectly casual and the staff is attentive, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. We started with a great glass of wine, (their wine list is fantastic!) and Italian sodas for the kids. Our server suggested the spinach, artichoke and mushroom dip as an appetizer and she couldn't have been more on point!! The kids shared a pizza, finishing every last bite! My husband had the filet mignon in a creamy peppercorn sauce (WOW!!!) and I was recommended the butternut squash ravioli, which was nothing short of epic!! After such an amazing experience, we couldn't pass up on dessert! We ordered the tiramisu (made in house) and wild cherry gelato for the kIds. We were made to feel like family our very first visit. We already know what we're going to order next time! We can't wait to go back!!

The food is okay for the price but if you are looking for fresh ingredients this is not the place. No fresh graded parmesan ??? Not enough sauce and WAY too much salt. My chicken was a little burnt on the edges. The bread was though good. The service was great. The potions sizes were decent. The setting is casual and relaxing.

Seriously, NO meatballs, wait it's a Friday lunch hour and we are the only two people sitting inside, may be one or two outside, NO MEATBALLS, are you serious, Roast Beef Panini, hot on the outside, cold on the inside, BEST thing was the bread, sorry this was my third attempt, very sad , it must resolve these issues before we come back

The food was good and the service was even better. My husband and I took his 99-year-old grandmother to eat here the other night and our server, Holly, was so patient with her. She was sweet and kind even when she had to repeat herself several times and describe many dinners and desserts. Thanks Holly!

Probably our favorite Italian place in town. Service distinguishes it from Cucina Vanina. We've been here a few times. They have interesting soups- carrot ginger one day, cream of asparagus and pea the next. Daily risotto specials too! The arrabiata sauce is fantastic : spicy and vibrant. Nice pizzas for the kids and plenty of vegetarian options. The Michelangelo pasta with garlic, pepped flakes and arugula also stands out. Prices are lower than we expected and combined with the food, brings us back often.

Bad experience here. Service and food were both bad. Ordered the artichoke dip appetizer and it came with 2 pieces of bread which was enough for 1/4 of the dish. We would have ordered more but the waiter was no where to be found. From the time we ordered entrees to the time they came it was 41 minutes. Gorgonzola gnocci was ok but over salted. The risotto special was undercooked and I'm still picking the rice out of my teeth. Service was just bad. Had to track down the waiter to get refills. Took 75 minutes to get out of here. I pick a new restaurant every week to eat at this was just bad. Plenty of other good Italian restaurants in SLC area that offer better food and better service.
We are giving a 5 star not necessarily for the food, we would give it 3.5 star, but instead because of the service. We've never had a waiter like Holly N. before. She served us so so very well. She brought us tiny samples of the soup and helped us feel very welcomed! She helped us understand the menu and never rushed us (this was our first time here). My wife and I walked out and said, "we've never had a waiter as good as Holly." She had better be the head waiter there! Thanks much!

I enjoy this place every time. I don't mind waiting a little if they are in the weeds. The food is always fresh. Gnocchi Gorgonzola is the BOMB! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Tritip salad is good too. John the owner is approachable and knows his business

Started the night hitting furniture row on Highland. Sadly, all stores were closed except Michelangelos. Walked in and got sat immediately. Elizabeth was our server. Fantastic attitude and gladly shared her favorite items. We started with the mushroom polenta. Wow. Amazing flavors and presented in a simple fashion. Special for the night was lamp chops with white beans. Another excellent choice as they were well prepared. Added the butternut squash ravioli with saffron sauce. A good night where everything went right.

My friend worked here and I would never have came here otherwise. There just seems to be something so unauthentic about this place. It's very waspy to say the least. Lots button ups tucked into Dockers all around. I just enjoyed the bread and oil. I probably could have ate just that and dipped out on any actual food. Waiter kept bringing us wine, that was fun. Got some asparagus with butter and oil as an appetizer and it was good but I had to leave before I ate because I was afraid my eyeballs were going to explode from pure boredom. Is that fair calling this a boring dining experience? I also feel the menu is a over priced for what it is. What you're paying for truly seems like is to keep out the riff raff and not for higher quality food. The owner punched my 4 year old daughter in the face on the way out.

All around great establishment. We were visiting relatives who live in SLC and they rate Michelangelo's in their top 5 places to eat. Being from CT, we're accustom to great Italian food. Well Michelangelo's didn't disappoint. Great service, great food, perfect potion size, at a very fair price. You can't go wrong dining here!

We have now been to this restaurant at least 3 times. The first time I remember being very slow. Nothing to tip extra for. Plan on at least 2 1/2 hours to get a meal andyour bill. Most of this time would be waiting to order and waiting for your bill. The food is unique, but the serving sizes are very small for the price. The three of us ordered pasta "ala carte"? at the prices of $13 to $18. The selections came with bread only and the $18 dollar dish was at most 7 raviolis! - chicken pesto ravioli. When I saw this, I was very surprised, but being with family, I didn't want to raise a fuss. My son and I took a bite or 2 of our $13 and $14 dishes home. We were not even full and spend $57 for 3 of us, including a 18% tip that was automatically added on because we had a large party. The food was very mediocre. Again, waters were not filled frequently and the waiter was gone for extended amounts of time. The ambiance was not great and it was quite noisy. We were asked about dessert. We were not asked if we had been there before and the waiter didn't introduce himself either. It would have been nice to have the menu explained to us. We had no clue that our dish we ordered did not come with vegies or a salad. If you have time and don't care about the money, by all means try the food, but be prepared for slow service and small portions. I will not return here. Giving them even 3 chances was a mistake. We enjoy Spaghetti Factory for FOUR of us at less money salad and dessert included! Bread refills are free there also!

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Great Ravioli special. Fun date place

Dear future diners... beware! I foolishly ignored the consistent bad reviews on yelp about their slow service. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I was in the mood for something new and really wanted some good gnocci. Our server a tall, skinny man with a Italian accent was nice and probably had nothing but good intentions. We got the Asparagi app to start. It was subpar, nothing special and I wouldn't order it again nor would I recommend it to a friend. Then I ordered the gnocchi gorgonzola and my boyfriend had the penne gorgonzola with chicken. The gnocchi alone was pretty good, the gorgonzola sauce wasn't anything special I'd give it 2.5 out of 5. But then again you can't really mess up a cream, butter, and cheese based sauce. My boyfriends pasta with chicken, should have read "comes sprinkled with a minuscule amount of chicken". It reminded me of those side salads you get at a dinky little diner that comes dressed with a whole 3 crotons!! The table next to us got sat a good 20 min after us and to our surprise got their food around 20 min before us. I watched our server bring their food over then looked at our table as if he had just realized something horrible then run into the kitchen. A few puzzling minutes later our server reappeared and asked us to repeat our order. I then watched in awe as he ran over to the server computer to put in our order. We had been there for 45 minutes and he had JUST rang in our order... dear God help me not destroy this man. We didn't see him again for another 15-20 min. He avoided our table like the plague. He finally addressed our table after he saw me ask for the manager (who wasn't working) he explained that he had rang in our order 30 min ago but when he went to get it the kitchen hadn't made it because it didn't print them a ticket. (Lies) oh really? If that was the case then why u asked us for our order again? Then run over to your computer and ring stuff in? If you had really put in our order 30 min ago it would be in still be in your system under our table number. Dear servers, don't lie... when you make a mistake just admit to it and apologize accordingly don't just blame it on the kitchen or lost tickets. Over all the experience was awful. To make up for the huge server mistake and the hour wait for our entrée's the sever gave us whole 20% off our bill... thanks for the whopping $4.00's off the worst dining experience I've ever had buddy... Future diners if you're seriously considering eating here... I would recommend the Del Taco across the street.

(5)The Girl W.
(5)Alicia B.
Excellent service, food, atmosphere, and wine. We got the lasagna and chicken piccata - they tasted soooo good! We highly recommend eating here
(5)Alana R.
(3)Lizzy G.
(5)Tiffany V.

(2)David C.
Like many other reviews on here, my wife and I also had problems with the service, although they were very busy. But as always the food is about the best Italian I've had in the Salt Lake area for the price. There is a couple better places, but they are much more expensive. I've never had a bad dish at this place.
(4)Erin N.
(2)Paul P.
Not a great experience - the wait staff was ok - but not attentive. The chicken I ordered was over done rubber swimming in an oily sauce and did not look appetizing at all. Not something would draw me to return!
(2)Jessica M.
BEST creamy tomato basil soup & homemade Cesar salad in the valley. We get carry out at least once a week. And the house bread is sooooooooo good! My other favorite is the gnocchi bolognese. Fantastic food!
(5)Megan H.
(1)Kelly J.
(4)Travis B.
(3)katie c.
(3)John C.
(5)Josh B.
Love this place!
(5)Tracie S.
(2)Judy B.

(5)S H.
(2)S S.
May I suggest the salmon with lemon caper sauce its a delicious crusted salmon very moist and absolutely Devine. What was not a favorite was the Gnocchi it was not worth ordering. The staff was great Bryan our waiter attended to all our needs.
(3)Daniel R.
(3)Phoebe F.
(5)Jenni C.
(4)Nicholas E.
(1)Bob L.
(1)Alan S.
The best Italian you will find on this side of the country. Order the Risotto, Gnocchi, and Ravioli. The Saffron Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto is worth the trip alone. Worth a try.
(5)Shauna S.
(5)Bobby H.
Wow.. This place was not great. Pretty much everything we ordered had little to no flavor. The only thing I liked was the asparagus appetizer. I will not be back. These people need to fix their dishes and find some flavor!
(1)Howie O.
(3)Hannah H.
(3)Carly D.

Great portions and prices -- I love the chicken Marsala. It gets a little loud and busy but they seem to have a good system.

We had a large group with tons of kids and they were so patient. Great service and the bolognese sauce is the best around. They also offer a very good gluten free spaghetti.

We eat here twice a week! Great drop-in restaurant. The food is great, relaxed atmosphere and wait staff is attentive. Amazing place!

Great bread with oil & vinegar! Very nicely decorated. Great food. (but nice waitress: please don't touch the upper part of the salt & pepper with your hands :) ) It's one of my favorite spots in SLC!

Food is great. Service is AWFUL!!!! The wait staff has no idea how to serve in an upscale restaurant.
(2)Sean W.

This is easily our favorite Italian restaurant in SLC. The food is fantastic, with a home-cooked flavor as if the chef was making to order every them. Delicious Italian sodas. Yum!

chicken picatta was fair, service was poor & indifferent. took a while to take drink orders, forgot kids Italian soda, didn't check up on our table. had to get our check at the cashier stand. probably wont go back

Plenty of other good Italian restaurants in SLC area that offer better food and better service.

bread is amazing. My girlfriends pesto gnocchi had excellent flavor, chicken was a tad dry. Simple request; I ordered chicken Parmesan with a cream sauce for my pasta. Request was met, Cream sauce was very blah, Pasta was cooked nicely but they left the marinara sauce off the chicken Parmesan, so while it had good flavor it just tasted like chicken with cheese. Waitress essentially blames me for not having a red sauce on it. Telling me that normally they don't do a Cream sauce with that dish - so that's probably why they didn't put it on there. I told her I had never had a chicken Parmesan or veal Parmesan without a Pomodoro, marinara, or red sauce. Which she responded with, "well they normally don't put two different kinds of sauces on one plate so that's probably why it doesn't have it on there. Instead of simply suggesting would you like a cup or would you like me to put it on. So being beyond irritated with her already horrible service I returned the dish Decent atmosphere, decent food from what I ate but appalling service!! We sat out on the patio and I would include my waitresses name in this review but she never introduced herself and doesn't have a name tag on! Still amazes me that people that live off of tips in the food service industry, as I did for 10 years, feel it necessary to argue with their customers. I also had to ask for a water refill, as to the table next to me, and when we left our waters were once again empty. It took 21 minutes for me to get my bread that she said she would bring out after she first took our drink order. Incidentally the bread came out four or five minutes after my appetizer! She never once came back to see how the appetizer was and never once asked how my girlfriends entrée was. She should not be working front of the house!!! When I asked if I could get an Alfredo sauce with my side of pasta she told me they didn't make it and that the chef would have to make it himself, but it would be difficult because the kitchen was backed up. I went to the restroom shortly after I ordered and they had less than 50% capacity filled in the restaurant. But she understands back of the house enough to know that the kitchen was backed up?

My review for Michelangelo's was written before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I do not know if they have any menu items that are gluten-free.

Husband really liked his pizza & the steak salad was good. Service was very slow & had us waiting for the crushed peppers. The husband finally gave up and the pizza without.
